Bandits will interrupt your service to steal tips. What official sources confirm about fighting back.

Cooking is Doomsday Diner's day job: physics-based controls, order deadlines, and a menu built around hot dogs and coffee. This page collects everything about the kitchen that official sources actually confirm.
What's verified: orders expire on timers; the controls are physics-based; hot dogs have at least three failure states — burnt, raw, and Jawbreaker; sauces exist (including a weaponized Hot Sauce); and the caffeinated side of the menu includes coffee, Dogstew, and Caffeinated Dogs. Exact recipes and controls are not published anywhere official.
Orders and deadlines Official
The Steam listing frames the pressure directly: cook the "weird and wacky hotdogs of the apocalypse" before the orders expire. Expired orders are lost business, and since bandits also target your earnings (see the combat guide), a slow kitchen hurts twice. The achievement "Mise en place" — deliver 3 orders in 30 seconds — confirms the game measures and rewards throughput.
Physics-based handling Official
The Steam listing describes the game's controls as physics-based, and that is as far as official sources go. How handling actually feels in play — what you can pick up, how food is carried, how easily things drop — is not documented anywhere official, and neither are the default controls, so we describe none of it. Needs release-build verification
Failure states: burnt, raw, and Jawbreaker Official platform data
Steam's achievement data names the ways a hot dog goes wrong. The achievement "Harmful for Human Consumption" is earned by serving 50 Burnt, Raw or Jawbreaker dogs — three distinct failure states, and notably the game lets you serve them anyway. What exactly produces a Jawbreaker (our guess would only be a guess) is not officially documented. Needs release-build verification
Sauces Official platform data
Sauced dogs are tracked by the achievement "That Drip" (serve 250 dogs with sauce), so sauce is a real order dimension, not decoration. There is also a Hot Sauce upgrade that kills bandits — the achievement "Not the Spicy Kind" requires 10 such kills — which says a lot about how this game treats condiments. Which sauces exist and what they cost is unverified.
The caffeinated menu Official platform data
Coffee is on the menu, and it has escalations: the achievement "Gotta Go Fast" covers serving 50 Coffees, Dogstews or Caffeinated Dogs, and "Caffeine Problem" is for consuming 10 Dogstews yourself — so the achievement wording has the player, not a customer, doing the consuming. What a Dogstew actually is, or what consuming one does in play, official sources don't say. Needs release-build verification
Kitchen upgrades Official
"Cooking Equipment" is one of the three official upgrade tracks (with Your Diner and Your Handy Weapon), and the official Steam screenshots show the upgrade shop with kitchen-side purchases priced in Franks — a high-pressure Sauce Hose, and a Sawed-off Gas Canister whose card warns the grill cooks faster but "objects on it will bounce randomly". The achievement "Weinermeister" separately confirms 1,000 Franks can be spent. A full upgrade table with costs and effects waits for release-build verification, tracked on the updates page.
