How cleaning fits into the full cooking–combat–cleaning loop.

Cleaning is the third pillar of Doomsday Diner — the store page gives it equal billing with cooking and combat. It's also the system official sources say the least about, so this page is short, honest, and precise about the boundary between confirmed and unknown.
What's verified: you keep the diner clean by clearing tables, and combat leaves bodies that also need clearing. That framing comes straight from the official store listing. How cleanliness affects customers, income, or anything else is not officially documented.
What the official copy establishes Official
The Steam listing tells you to keep the diner spotless: wipe down the tables, and deal with what the fighting leaves behind. Two facts follow directly. First, table mess is a recurring part of normal service — wiping tables is in the official job description, though no official source documents what makes them dirty or how food handling plays out (the cooking guide keeps that boundary explicit). Second, cleaning and combat are coupled: dead bandits don't remove themselves.
Prioritizing cleanup — a framework, not a walkthrough
Because cleaning competes with cooking timers and bandit raids for the same pair of hands, the practical question is when to clean. Official sources don't answer it, so here is the honest version: treat cleaning as the task you do when the other two systems allow it, and watch for whether the game punishes neglect. We deliberately do not claim that dirt drives away customers, lowers tips, or attracts anything — those would be plausible mechanics, and plausible is not our standard. Open questions we're tracking Needs release-build verification
- Is there a cleanliness meter, rating, or inspection mechanic?
- Do dirty tables block seating or slow new orders?
- How are bodies removed — carried, dragged, or something stranger?
- Do any "Your Diner" upgrades automate or speed up cleaning?
- Is any achievement tied to cleaning? None of the 23 achievement names or published descriptions mentions it explicitly — several hidden ones remain undisclosed.
Each of these gets answered on this page only after release-build verification, with the change logged on the updates page. If you can point us to an official source we've missed, the contact page explains how.
